Our Story
Chanell Donnolley, the passionate and caring Director of People of Peony, has always been driven by a deep-seated desire to work with people. Her journey, shaped by growing up in foster care, ignited a profound commitment to helping others. She describes this calling as something that has always been with her, a beacon of purpose that led her to a career dedicated to improving the quality of life for people.
Her personal experiences have fuelled her compassion, making her a dedicated team player with an unwavering passion for making a positive impact. Enriching the lives of others, for Chanell, is not just a job—it’s a profoundly beautiful and transformative experience. The privilege to enhance her skills in this field is, in her words, utterly rewarding, and she humbly views supporting others as a pious endeavour.
Driven by her belief in the sanctity of supporting others, Chanell founded People of Peony, a Human Services company that goes beyond the conventional. Starting as an NDIS Service provider, the company quickly expanded its services, inspired by the resilience and stories of people with disabilities. Their experiences opened Chanell’s eyes to the challenges they face, fostering a deep sense of gratitude for the participants she has had the honour to support.
Chanell embraces People of Peony’s philosophy of innovation in service delivery. The company’s ethos revolves around being person-centred and breaking free from moulds to embrace creativity. She strongly advocates for the belief that children and adults with disabilities have the same hopes and aspirations as their peers, deserving equal opportunities to fulfill their potential and shape their futures.
People of Peony isn’t just about one person; it’s a collective effort to challenge societal norms that marginalise those who differ from the perceived “norm.” Chanell envisions a world where diversity is celebrated, and everyone has an equal right to happiness, fun, importance, and informed choices.
The name “People of Peony” encapsulates this vision—it’s about creating a space for a happy life for all. The company is not just about politics, money, or red versus blue; it’s about survival and making society a better place for everyone. Chanell, driven by her father’s last words, is on a mission to change the world and uplift society as a whole.
In essence, People of Peony is a beacon of positivity, striving to make the world a more inclusive, joyful, and informed place for every individual.
Its not just a job for Chanell, it’s a mission.
She believes that every single event in life presents an opportunity to choose love over fear, to grow, and to expand. That’s why she continues to make space within the People of Peony framework, allowing for more ways to help people thrive.
Ever heard the saying you can only take others as deep as you have gone yourself? Chanell has found that to be very true.
By working on herself, she started removing blocks from her own subconscious and allowing herself to feel worthy of excelling in her career. She was then able to take her healing and coaching participants deeper into their own healing journeys because she had done so herself. She became more open to receiving love, success and happiness. Self-healing resulted in huge shifts in all areas of People of Peony. The more she healed herself, the deeper she has been able to take her healing and coaching participants on their own journeys and the better the results they have had because of the insight she has from her own healing and expansion.
This healing journey began to also change the way NDIS Disability Supports were delivered because as she healed herself, she healed others and that energy was felt all through the company meaning that even the Support Workers had their self care needs prioritised and were truly able to be held in a safe space to also grow and that then carried on to how they treated the beautiful and valued Disability participants. Everyone reaped the rewards on her inner healing journey. The impacts of her implementing a ‘love and heart centred’ approach to business made their participants also know and feel that they were a part of a family not just receiving supports from a provider.
By following the guidance from the whispers of her soul, she has created her own way of serving others whilst still being committed to the delivery of quality services, safe work practices and a safe environment across the organisation. People of Peony work strictly in and with all guidelines they just have more of a genuine love for people and they let that love lead how they deliver all of their services and all of their employees also embody and hold the frequency that is evolving society to be more inclusive and fostering everyone to live their happiest life.
People of Peony’s love extends to individuals and communities navigating life’s challenges. We have a heart for those facing mental health struggles, families in economic hardship, individuals with disabilities, and anyone in need of support and understanding. Our mission is fuelled by a profound love for humanity.
Our services are crafted with love to meet the unique needs of our participants.
Each service is a gesture of love, aimed at creating a tapestry of positive change in the lives we touch. Our services are a reflection of our deep care. From offering solace through case management to ensuring stability through housing assistance, we strive to empower individuals and communities. Our goal is to be a source of strength, addressing immediate needs, fostering long-term sustainability, and contributing to the overall well-being of those we serve. It’s our way of sharing love in action.
Our caring spirit is the heartbeat of our mission. We care because we believe that everyone deserves compassion, support, and opportunities for growth. Our commitment is rooted in the profound belief that every individual and community has the potential to thrive. Through our love-driven initiatives, we aim to create a more compassionate and inclusive society where everyone can experience the warmth of care and understanding.
Whilst Chanell is immensely proud of the work People of Peony have achieved in the first 6 years, they are still just getting started as an organisation. As of today, People of Peony stands as a testament to the power of love in action, actively involved in uplifting our community. Looking ahead, our vision is to expand the reach of our love. We aspire to forge deeper connections, infuse innovation into our services, and contribute to enduring positive change. Join us in envisioning a future where love propels individuals to overcome challenges, families are bound together by love’s strength, and communities flourish. Together, with love as our guide, we are weaving a story of resilience, compassion, and shared humanity. Every act of love and support, no matter how small, contributes to a future where love reigns supreme.

Hi my name is Jules and I am the HR Assistant here at People of Peony.
I began my professional journey in the Telecommunication industry in Sydney, where I spent more than 15 years. This experience provided me with valuable lessons in effective communication, problem-solving, and handling complaints. Eventually, I made a seamless transition within the same company from the Sydney office to the Gold Coast. Equipped with the skills I had acquired, I decided to venture into a new industry and spent the next 5 years working in advertising. During this time, I managed million-dollar portfolios and acquired new clients. However, the fast-paced nature of advertising prompted me to seek a change of pace. Thus, I bid farewell to the Gold Coast and embraced Toowoomba. I then took on a role with an unorganised photographer, which presented numerous challenges. Although I stayed for as long as I could, I eventually felt the need to move on. Subsequently, I entered the demanding world of insurance for 8 years, where I encountered a wide range of personalities. This experience helped me realise my enjoyment in assisting others. After years of working with customers, I found my current position as an admin/HR professional at People of Peony.
Working for People of Peony has been an absolute delight for me. My learning experience in Human Resources has been incredibly enriching and I have gained a wealth of knowledge in this field.
The opportunity to work with the People of Peony has been truly fulfilling. Through my newfound passion for Human Resources, I have acquired a great deal of valuable insights and skills. My journey in Human Resources has been a tremendous learning experience, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally.

While I was in High School, I pursued many different job avenues but never truly found something that felt like my calling. This was until I ended up finding Support Work. Doing Support Work gave me a new perspective, and fuelled a fire in my heart to find purpose and meaning. I continued within Support Work for ten years, before I started to feel like I wanted to go further with what I was doing. This is when I became a Client Services Manager at People of Peony. Three years later, I still love it more than ever, and feel as though I'm enabling individuals to live their best life.
I'm motivated to work as my best self every day by empathy and compassion. I go into all situations with a positive attitude, and am always happy to deal with situations with a laugh. When times get tough, I approach all situations with an open-mind and an understanding mindset. I strive to facilitate a caring, comfortable and empathetic environment for both my Clients and the Support Workers who offer me a much appreciated helping hand.
I believe that everyday is an opportunity to learn, grow and nurture your skills to allow them to flourish, I keep this attitude within everything I do, and I make efforts to ensure that I am being my absolute best self inside and outside of work. To enable this, I practice yoga and mindfulness outside of work to ensure that I maintain this perspective and allow myself to thrive in all situations.
